Does witchcraft work?

Besides, what's the big deal? It's just for fun. It can't hurt me or anything, right?

If you've been involved in witchcraft, please cut me some slack in this article. I'm going to explain just a little bit of what I know about witchcraft through dealing with it personally and research that I've done in the process of helping students come out of it. This is NOT a complete work on the study of witchcraft. I can't go into all of the details here, or I would freak some people out. Some folks may have a hard time with what I've already written. But I'm willing to risk what someone may think of me in order to help you! Many Christians don't like to talk about Satan and his forces... they usually like to ignore them as if the Bible never mentioned them. However, if I do that, then you may never get answers. So, if you're into witchcraft, please cut me a little bit of slack here. If you're informed at all, then you know there's a lot more to it than is in this article. If you want more info about leaving this lifestyle, then call (256-831-5280) or email me (Chris@wordaliveyouth.org). But, I think this page will be a great starter to help you. There have already been numerous students who have read this page... some took it to heart... some allowed God to plant some seeds of thought in their minds... while others blew it off for now. If you're into witchcraft, I hope you'll at least give what I've written here some thought. I'm writing things that I know, not what I've made up. I hope this page will encourage you.

If you're not involved in this stuff and just sort of curiously reading this page, then I hope this helps you to not allow Satan to lure you into his trap called witchcraft. This page is not for entertainment.

It seems like it's everywhere. Old movies and TV shows that seemed 'cute' and 'innocent' may have helped lead our nation to accept the stuff that we have now. The Blair Witch movie. ABC has Sabrina. The WB has Buffy. And what about Charmed?. These and many other shows and movies are 'innocent'. Yet while Americans were watching for Satan to attack loudly through the front door, he quietly and mildly slipped his 'harmless' concepts of witchcraft right into our homes through our TV sets, and many of us have accepted it as harmless entertainment. Harry Potter books (and the movie) are phenomenon, yet they're filled with witchcraft. Barnes and Noble bookstore has even sold Teen Witch Kits (complete with paper alters)... and they sold out quickly. Psychic hotlines are constantly offering free minutes if we'll just give 'em a call. Books on how to be a teenage witch are being written targeting young people. Students are researching witchcraft on the internet... some while at school. Many students from around here are using magic cards, thinking it's innocent play. Even mainstream teen magazines are writing regular articles on how to cast spells. The list really could go on-and-on with these seemingly innocent bits of entertainment.

Aside from that, the practice of witchcraft among teenagers is becoming more and more common now. It's even packaged as a 'good religion' with titles such as Wicca. Many, many students are moving beyond the movies, books, and TV shows and becoming interested in the beginning stages of witchcraft, and some go much farther than that. For someone to think otherwise would be really naive. I believe witchcraft in America will continue to grow (and at a faster rate) as people are looking for spiritual things in life and a thrill outside of God's plan.

Although we know that there are many different kinds of witchcraft, we're going to deal with it in a general sense in this article.

is it real? does
witchcraft really
work?

I've talked with students who were into witchcraft, and almost every time, they've asked me if I thought witchcraft was for real. I think they were expecting me to say no or something, because they are usually shocked when I say that I most definitely believe it is real. There is solid evidence that can't be denied. Even the Bible says it works.

However, "does it work?" isn't the only question that we should ask.

Cocaine works. But is it good for us? No. It tears up lives every day.

I'm not saying drugs and witchcraft are the same thing, but the same concept applies to both:  they both work, and they both hurt those who get involved in them.

"you're just saying
this because you're
a Christian."

Actually not. I'm saying this because I've seen with my own eyes what witchcraft does to people after a while, even the 'white witchcraft', and I just want to share some of that information with you if you're willing to keep reading.

what does the
Bible say
about it?

Deuteronomy 18:10-11 -- Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead.

hey, i'm not
worshipping
satan... i'm just
casting spells
and stuff.

Although there are some folks who do purposefully worship Satan, I believe that many students involved in witchcraft don't really intend to do that.

However, you don't have to physically bow down before Satan to worship him.... all you have to do to worship him is follow him - even unknowingly. Worship is when we honor somebody or something. If you're following Satan's lifestyle of witchcraft, then you're worshiping him and the power that you find in him.... even if you don't mean to do so.

Satan is very tricky. The Bible calls him "crafty." Don't feel bad if he's tricked you, because he's tricked a lot of people. His kingdom is built on deception. He MUST lie in order to get people to believe that he actually has more to offer than Christ. His kingdom grows through deception.

Witchcraft can look very attractive, fun, and harmless (especially the beginning levels of it) but it's a trap. It's a trick. He's getting you to follow him down a dark, painful path that leads to death.

I've heard students say, "Hey, I won't get hurt by this. I'm smarter than that." That is what the devil would love for us to believe. If we don't think that he is a threat to us, then he has already won the first battle.

what if i
just do 'good'
things with
my witchcraft?
You know... like
'white witchcraft'?

A lot of witchcraft literature tricks people into thinking that if they only do good things (like casting 'good' spells on people) then nothing bad will happen to them.

This is a trap by Satan. It's sort of like putting 'good' cheese on a mouse trap. Of course the cheese is good, but the trap is deadly.

do 'good' angels
carry out the
spells?

This is something else that a lot of witchcraft literature lie about. Take a look at what the Bible says.

Hebrews 2:9 -- But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels...

When Jesus became a human about two thousand years ago, He became "a little lower than the angels." This verse describes that the human race is not above angels, but below them.

Angels do not take orders from us. They take their orders from God.

We are instructed in the Bible to ask Father God in the name of Jesus for the things that we need and want. Then, it's up to Him if He wants to do it Himself or send His angels to do it. But we are to depend on God, not angels.

To focus more on angels than on God is both dangerous and unbiblical. The reason that it's dangerous is because Satan and his demons can appear to be angels of God and deceive us. Read this verse.

2 Corinthians 11:14 --- Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

The Bible says that Satan can make himself look like an angel from God. Satan at one time was an angel of God named Lucifer. However, he tried to overthrow the throne and take control from God. God, being much more powerful than anyone or anything else, kicked Satan out of heaven and all of the other angels who had joined forces with him... which was 1/3 of all the angels in heaven. The Bible doesn't state a number of how many demons there are, but my OPINION after some experience in various places is there are probably many millions. Satan and his fallen angels (demons) are who carry out the spells. They will let you think that they are good, that they are helping you, and they are following your leadership, but they are only wanting to pull you deeper into their trap. They will let you "lead" them around and even boss them around... as long as they get your soul... which is what they want.

So, how do I know if it's a good angel or a bad one? Check out the next question.

How can I
know if it's a
spirit
from God?

1 John 4:1-3 --- Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.

There was a false teaching (heresy) in the first century churches that Jesus didn't actually come in a physical body. In other words, when He walked on the beach, He didn't leave footprints. This teaching does away with the truth of the physical blood and death on the cross, which would do away with our salvation. This was a trick of the devil. The truth is that Jesus was born of a physical mother. He ate and drank physical food and drink. He wore physical clothes that people grabbed sometimes, and other times tore and gambled for. He had a physical beard that people pulled out. And He died a physical death and shed physical blood on a physical cross. He was buried in a physical grave, and physically rose again. Thomas touched His resurrected physical body. The truth is that Jesus DID come in a physical body... He DID come "in the flesh."

"Did Jesus Christ come in the flesh?" God has bound Satan and his demons from answering this specific question correctly. They can't answer it right, even though they know that the correct answer is 'yes.' You can ask them "Is Jesus the Son of God" and they'll give the correct answer to that question and many others, but they are not capable of giving the correct answer to the question, "Did Jesus come in the flesh?"

This is the biblical test God has given to us to know whether or not an angel or spirit is from God.

Jesus is better
than the angels.

how do i
get out of this
if i'm already
involved?

Witchcraft is a big sin with big consequences. It opens up different kinds of doors into your life for Satan and his kingdom to influence you and hurt you.

In other words, if you've already been involved in witchcraft, even in a small way, you can't just stop doing it and hope that  everything will be ok. It doesn't work that way.

"What if I want out of witchcraft, but don't want to follow Jesus?" (Click here for the answer.)

The less you are in it, the less doors you have to close to get out of it. The more you are in it, the more doors you have to close to get out of it.

People who have come out of witchcraft can tell you that it's not easy to leave it. Why? Because those 'spirits' (demons) don't want to give you up. Remember, they want your soul. You may have been playing a game, but they were playing for keeps.

If you want out, here's some steps for you to do........

You must first of all give your life to Jesus Christ by (1) honestly admitting to Him that you're a sinner, (2) honestly trusting your life in His hands, and (3) honestly deciding that He will be your leader and master from now on. You must trust Him enough to submit to Him. This first step is absolutely necessary. If you don't want do this first step, you're better off if you don't bother with the next three steps. (Why?)

Secondly, you must renounce all ties with Satan, even if you didn't realize what you did was associated with Satan. You do this by saying out loud that you are renouncing (to disown, to reject) Satan and his witchcraft, and you are now following the Lord Jesus Christ. You must say it out loud.

Thirdly, you must pray to God the Father. Apologize for your witchcraft sin, and turn completely away from it. You can not go back to it, ever again, even in the smallest way.

Fourth, you must ask Father God to please cut all ties between you and Satan. This is very important!

You really need to get into the Bible and prayer. A good place to read is Eph. 6:10-18. After that, read the whole book of John (21 short chapters). Read other areas of the Bible that God will lay on your heart. Learn as much as you can. Pray! Prayer is very important, and you'll start to see more and more as you did it that it makes a significant difference in circumstances around you.

You really need to find a church and a Christian friend(s) to be there for you. The 'spirits' (demons) who supposedly helped you in the past will now try to hurt you. You need for others to be there for you and pray for/with you. Find a church, and find a friend that you can talk with about this.

VERY IMPORTANT: you can not go back to your witchcraft, even in the smallest way. If you do, it will be worse for you than it ever was the first time.

Remember what Jesus says about Himself in this verse:

Luke 4:18 --- He (Father God) has sent Me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners...

The deeper you've been into witchcraft, the better the chances are that you know what it feels like to be a prisoner. Christ came to set you free!

I'm here for you if you need me. I won't think bad of you, no matter who you are or what you've done. If you need help, please call, email, or come by.

some food
for thought:

Galatians 1:8-9 -- But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

If anyone tries to tell you something different than what the Bible says, then they are not from God, no matter how convincing they are. EVEN IF IT'S AN "ANGEL." The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that Satan can make himself look like an 'angel of light.' So don't go by what someone says, or how powerful they are, or how convincing they are in their book, video, web site, or whatever... go by what God's Word says, and in the end you'll be glad you did.
